Description
A picture of a dilapidated house, overgrown by trees and brush. The house is composed of a wooden structure and a roof, framing an adobe structure. The inscription below the picture reads "This crumbling house was one of the last remaining structures on the La Placita property. Founded in 1845 this community was originally known as 'La Placita de los Trujillos' after its founder Lorenzo Trujillo, and was located on the east side of the Santa Ana River. It was later just referred to as 'La Placita.' The La Placita community along with the Agua Mansa community (located on the west side of the Santa Ana River) were the first non-Native settlements and had the first church and school. La Placita was a recognized community of Riverside until 1926. Photo courtesy of Riverside Public Library."
