2012 Calendar Page 18, September
The first calendar page for RCMAHS September 2012 is black and white and "September" is written in both English in Spanish with the year at the bottom written on either side. A dedication to the Community Settlement Association and Jesse R. Ybarra takes up the rest of the page designed as an open travel notebook. The left page has a "The Community Settlement Association" travel tag, an image of Ybarra, and a written history of the Community settlement House and Ybarra's work in the association. The right page has an image of two men building and writing continued from the first page by Luana Ybarra Hernandez and Linda Salinas Thompson. The text begins with "The Community Settlement House celebrates the 100 year anniversary in September 2011." and ends with "We will always remember Mr. Ybarra and Mrs. Anderson for being such a big part of our lives and all the proper teaching skills brought forth to us by them." -

2012 Calendar Page 16, August
The black and white RCMAHS first calendar page for August 2021, is written in both English and Spanish on the bottom center with the year written on either side. Background of an open travel notebook with a dedication to Virginia Rodriguez Solorio. Text states "Virginia was the second eldest daughter of ten siblings to Zeferino and Guadalupe Rodriguez. Born and raised in the Casa Blanca neighborhood, she attended Chernawa Middle School. She became an orange packer with Victoria, Arlington, and Royal Citrus Packing Companies, where she worked for over 80 years. She married John Duarte Solorio, a WWII Veteran. They had two children, Evangeline and Lillian, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Virginia received letters of recognition for being an outstanding citizen in the community of Casa Blanca. She lived her life humbly and simply, enjoying her family and neighbors. Her fondest memories were of attending dances at St. Anthony's Church, where all the community would father and have a great time. Beverly Arias September 2011." On the left is a travel bag with her name and an image of Solorio standing in a wedding dress and holding a bouquet of flowers. The right page has an image of Solorio sitting in the front of a car and a dedication to her life written by Beverly Arias in September 2011. -
2012 Calendar page 13, June dates
The 2012 RCMAHS June calendar dates page that shows multiple holidays such as Flag Day on the 14th and Father's Day on the 17th. At the bottom of the page are two obituaries. One is on the bottom left of Tony Campos Jr that includes a photo of him and his friends and text. The text states: "In honor of Tony Campos Jr. (Blackie): Our memories and friendship of you will always be with us. Sonny, Linda, and Manuel." The other on the bottom right is of Johnny and Ramona Sotelo that includes a photo of both and text. The text states: "In honor of Johnny and Ramona Sotelo: How many lives shall I touch today, how many neighbors will pass my way, I can only reach out and help so many with a Christ-like touch in my glowing Spirit! Your Loving Children" -

1930s Eastside Baseball Team

Two baseball players wore dark uniforms with the name of the team "Riverside M. NG" written on them. The rest has the same team name but in white clothing.Bottom row, second from the left is Henry Medrano Carrasco and his brothers, Fernando Madrano Carrasco, and Sebastian Madrano Carrasco. -
2011 Calendar Cover Page, Riverside County Mexican American Historical Society, 'Sharing Our History'
A group portrait of a Mexican-American baseball team around the 1930s to 1940s. To indicate the era, there are vehicles in the background as well as the fashion of both the baseball players and who is presumed to be the coach. Also, while the coach is in formal attire, the baseball team wore formal pants and sweaters, with the exception of one member who wears a buttoned-up shirt. This photo may indicate either the formation of the Mexican-American baseball team or a form of victory celebration after winning a game. -

2011 June Calendar Page 12, Chavarillas Store
A June calendar page image featuring several family photos and a convenience store. The postcard text is nearly illegible but purportedly reads, "Chavarria Store: Tony was born in Mexico, and came to America with his parents as a young toddler. His father Rafugs is Chavarrias helped him purchase so the store just before he married the love of his life. Mary Mora, in 1939. Tony and Mary operated the grocery store business during World War II. Chavarria store was located on the corner of Park Avenue and Eleventh Street in the Eastside area of Riverside. Gas was rationed during this time to all families. Tony was granted permission by the City of Riverside to have a gas pump installed on the property so he could travel to make purchases of commodities for the grocery store. Although these were tough times for every family. Tony would... to those families that could not pay for their food. He would only expect them to pay what little they could afford. At Christmas time. Tony would insist that children living in the Eastside a... should receive a Christmas stocking full of hard candy, nuts, and an orange. This tradition continued until he retired in 1985, after forty-seven years in the Grocery Store business. Linda Salinas-Thompson." -
2011 February Calendar Page 4, Lozano Family PostCard
The February page consists of a photograph of the Lozano family, a postcard commemoration by Linda-Salinas Thompson, and the month in English and Spanish (Febrero). The postcard describes the legacy of Marcos and Francesca Lozano from 1917 to the 1940s. It explains how the Lozano family immigrated from Guanajuato, Mexico to El Paso, Texas by crossing the border and making their way to Riverside, CA. The postcard text reads, "The Lozano Family: The 1917 Marcos and Francisca Lozano left Guanajuato, Mexico for the United States. They entered by way of El Paso, Texas crossing the border at the cost of two cents each. Mr. Lozano worked for Union Pacific for many years, the family l.iving in one of the boxcars, following the work of Union Pacific in the United States wherever the work took him. They settled in the Eastside community of Riverside, where the family was considered one of the largest in the area. The family picture was taken during the 1940s, back row left to right, with sisters, Chona, Chavela, Josie, Lilly, Lucy, and Manuela. Mr. and Mrs. Marcos Lozano are sitting on the bench with their son John (Gorilla), and two other brothers Romano and Ventura are not in the picture. Linda Salinas-Thompson". -
